Considerations prior to your closing date:

• The owner of the property will need to contact the Utility companies to let them know the closing date you are selling the property so that they can do a final reading for the property. Also you will need to tell them your new home/mailing address so that they can send the final utility bills to you after the closing date.
• Gas company: Enbridge
• Hydro company: Alectra Utilities
• Water company: Please contact your municipality’s water provider, as each city has its own water services department (e.g., City of Toronto Water, York Region Alectra, Peel Region Water, etc.).
• Reliance Home Comfort or Enercare to terminate your account for water heater rental. If the water heater is not owned by Reliance or Enercare, please contact the company that owns the water heater to complete any requirements to transfer your contract to the buyer prior to closing.

• You should contact Canada Post to forward your mail to your new address.
• Call the condominium property management to stop the pre-authorized payment for your monthly condo fees/common expenses.
• Call the telephone company to inform them of your closing date.
• Call the cable company to inform them of your closing date.
• Call the alarm company to inform them of your closing date.
• Call to cancel any pre-authorized payments you have set up for the property you are selling.
• Call to cancel the house insurance on the property you are selling.
  NOTE: Have the house insurance company cancel the insurance once the transaction has closed, in the event there is a delay in the scheduled closing date.
